Besides th...Am I the only person who hates the V5? Besides that I can't upload it to regular GedMatch (yes, I know about Genesis) or MyHeritage, it seems lacking in other ways. I was surprised to read here that it actually looks at more SNPs than the V4.

My aunt and myself were tested on the V4 chip. I then had my mom and brother tested on the V5. It is when I compare my mom and myself that I get results that are counterintuitive.

The scenario is: Mom is Italian, British Isles, German. Dad (who has passed away so I cannot have him tested) is solid Eastern European, half Polish, half Slovakian. I can see clearly in my DNA what was inherited from who, the only overlap being that they both have some Balkan inheritance.

But with more SNPs tested, why is it that, with people that I am related to through my Mom, I share slightly greater % of DNA with them than she does? I can see that this could happen every once in a while, but it happens about 90% of the time and does not happen at all with my brother's V5 test. The extra .01% is from populations that are not in my Dad's DNA. There are also a few matches, clearly through my mother's side and no father's DNA involved, that do not show up for her. Again, does not happen with my brother.

Also, in Ancestry Composition, I test as .8% Sardinian on the half of chr 4 that I clearly inherited from my mother, but Sardinian does not show up for her at all.

I will also throw out there that, even though I know this is a reasonable DNA "luck of the draw", she comes out as being 99.1% European with .8% West Asian & North African, while her sister (on the V4 chip) is 90.2% European with 8.1% West Asian & North African, plus a little Sub-Saharan African and some Ashenazi.

Am I crazy? Is this what greater accuracy looks like? Anyone else seeing less defined results with the V5?

Jillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05205371051192668195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2010859453749706440.post-29933769840426933882018-04-07T10:44:24.689-07:002018-04-07T10:44:24.689-07:00Thank you for answering; I send you an email soon....Thank you for answering; I send you an email soon.
